Overheard: Thoughts On "Torture Porn"

While in a discussion about the merits or lack thereof of "Torture Porn" movies (Hostel, Saw, Wolf Creek, etc.) a notable industry insider and AFM attendee remarked "It's catering to a bad demographic." This reminds me of the chat I had with upcoming IFC Films release Jar City filmmaker Baltasar Kormakur and journalist David D'Arcy in Karlovy Vary this past July. My opinion? It's just wrong.
