Hmmmmm...A Little Late, No?

An email alert I received this afternoon from CNN read:

NASA grounds the space shuttle progam while engineers determine the effects of debris falling from Discovery during blastoff.

Hmmmm....ya think maybe they might have thought of this before launching seven people into space?

According to CNN, shuttle program manager Bill Parsons, speaking at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, told reporters: "Until we fix this, we're not ready to go fly again," adding, "You can say that means they're grounded."

Don't get me wrong, I know they thought everything was ok, but how about doing an unmanned launch and a remote control re-entry? Yes, I know, expensive. But wouldn't an "uh oh, some stuff fell off the shuttle. We hope it isn't serious." sound better if there weren't 7 people up there?

Just an idea.
