Michael Campbell, in his first appearance ever in the United States, has won the US Open by 2 strokes over Tiger Woods. The final round saw Retief Goosen and Jason Gore both had mammoth collapses in the final round, with Goosen at +8 (+11 for the day) and Gore at +14. Tiger finished the day at +2 overall and -1 on the day.
Gore should still be very proud of his Open performance and as one of the better-liked and more personable players on the tour, I hope we’ll see more of him.
Goosen’s 81, however, is the highest score by a three round leader since World War II.
